Twenty Athletes Walk the Runway for the First-Ever Sport for Good Fashion Show

Our first-ever Sport for Good Fashion Show raised crucial funds and awareness to improve the lives of youth through the power of sport. Held at the Mercedes-Benz Showroom on September 12th, this star-studded New York Fashion Week event featured some of the nation’s top athletes walking the runway, all to raise awareness and crucial funds for disadvantaged youth across the US. Spotted front row enjoying the show was Houston Rockets small forward, Carmelo Anthony, and New York Knicks forward, Lance Thomas.

Athletes who participated included: Super Bowl MVP, Marcus Allen, skateboarding legend, Tony Hawk, beach volleyball player, Kerri Walsh Jennings, five-time Olympic gold medalist in swimming, Missy Franklin, ten-time NFL All-Pro, Ray Lewis, World Champion in the 400 meter event, Phyllis Francis, Olympic gold medalist, Benita Fitzgerald Mosley, nine-time Olympic gold medalist in track and field, Carl Lewis, two-time Olympic gold medalist in track and field, Edwin Moses, New York City Football Club and Costa Rican soccer player, Ronald Matarrita, New York Red Bulls goalkeeper, Luis Robles, USA Rugby Eagles outside center, Seamus Kelly, five-time Olympic gold medalist in gymnastics, Nadia Comaneci, Olympic Medalist and Activist, Ibtihaj Muhammad, Olympic Medalist in track and field, Kristi Castlin, two-time NBA Champion, David Robinson, Olympic foil fencer, Miles Chamley-Watson, two-time Olympic medalists and national champions in figure skating, Maia and Alex Shibutani, and yogis, The Chin Twins, Crissy and Kimmy Chin.

The athletes rocked designer looks from Collection by Michael Strahan, MSX by Michael Strahan. Rag & Bone, Rowing Blazers, Dunhill, Pamella Roland, Banana Republic, Dsquared2, Five Hour, Marni from YOOX, Anitra Michelle Homme, Phillip Lim, Goorin Bros., Louella, and DiDomenico Design, Harry’s of London, New Republic, Common Projects, and Jordan.

Super Bowl Champion, Pro Football Hall of Famer, co-host of GMA/GMA DAY, NFL on Fox analyst, and fashion designer, Michael Strahan and supermodel, entrepreneur, and philanthropist, Karolína Kurková kicked off the fashion show.  The show concluded with a special musical performance by Doug E. Fresh.

The day before the Fashion Show, select athletes joined Laureus’ Day of Action and visited Laureus-supported programs in NYC. During the Day of Action, athletes experienced how sport is being used to empower underserved youth across the city, and observed the impactful work that the Fashion Show helps to support.
