Trevor Lawrence & Gatorade team up with Laureus USA to surprise Jacksonville Youth

The kids at T.R.U.E. Youth were expecting a routine activity break during their summer camp on Monday afternoon at Westside Middle School, but thanks to Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback, Trevor Lawrence, and Gatorade they got so much more.

On July 11th Trevor Lawrence and Gatorade teamed up with Laureus USA to announce a $20,000 grant that will cover fees and equipment for T.R.U.E. Youth’s next two football seasons! This funding will also ensure the youth can benefit from T.R.U.E.’s educational programming and wrap around services- truly embodying the spirit of Sport for Good.

After making the announcement, Trevor joined in on the fun getting out and playing football with the kids who had a once in a lifetime experience with an NFL pro!

“We were able to make a donation to pay for the equipment and participation fees for the next two seasons,” Lawrence said after Monday, “So kids can come out here and play sports and not have to worry about how much it’s going to cost, or you know or how they’re going to be able to do it. So that was something that we were able to do, just to try to give back and really inspire the next generation to keep playing sports and make that as easy as possible.”

Laureus USA found and identified T.R.U.E. Youth as the recipient for this funding given the alignment with their mission to develop, support, and promote a wide variety of youth education and sports activities with a focus on providing children with opportunities to grow as a student, player and more importantly as an individual.

The donation from Lawrence and Gatorade also aligns perfectly with Gatorade’s Fuel Tomorrow initiative, a multi-year commitment to help millions of kids get in the game by helping break down barriers young athletes face. Laureus USA is proud to be one of Gatorade’s key social impact partners for the initiative.

We are grateful for athletes like Trevor and partners like Gatorade who donate their time and resources to ensure more young people can benefit from the life-changing power of sport.
